Oldenburg’s Kramermarkt 2026 is coming

Autumn is approaching, and with it one of Oldenburg’s biggest and best-known public festivals: the Kramermarkt. From October 2 to October 11, 2026, the area around the Weser-Ems-Hallen will once again turn into a colorful festival ground filled with rides, food stalls, music, games and entertainment.

The 2026 edition will be the 419th Kramermarkt.

Ten days of Kramermarkt

The festival starts on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. and continues until Sunday, October 11.

Admission to the festival grounds is free. Visitors only pay for individual rides, food and other attractions.

Opening hours may still be subject to change. Current plans indicate longer opening hours on Fridays and Saturdays, while the market is expected to close earlier on most other days.

Rides, food and entertainment

One of the main attractions of the Kramermarkt is the combination of tradition and modern fairground entertainment.

Visitors can expect classic carousels, family attractions, games and more thrilling rides for those looking for an adrenaline rush.

Food is another important part of the experience. Traditional fairground favorites, sweets and a variety of other food options are expected to be available throughout the festival.

The big Kramermarkt parade

A particularly important date is Saturday, October 3, 2026.

The traditional Kramermarkt parade starts at 2:00 p.m. Around 100 clubs, groups and marching bands are expected to take part, featuring decorated floats, music and performances.

For many people in Oldenburg, the parade is one of the highlights of the entire Kramermarkt.

Lantern parade and fireworks

Another special evening is planned for Friday, October 9.

The lantern parade starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Old Town Hall. A fireworks display will follow afterwards.

With the rides and stalls illuminated at night, the atmosphere is expected to be especially impressive.

A festival with centuries of history

The Kramermarkt has a long history. The market was first officially documented in 1608.

Originally, it was mainly a trading market where farmers, craftsmen, merchants and travelling traders could sell their goods.

Over the centuries, the event gradually developed into a public festival. By the 18th century, its fairground character had become increasingly important, and later more rides and entertainment were added.

Since 1963, the Kramermarkt has been held at its current location near the Weser-Ems-Hallen.

Getting there

The festival grounds are only a few minutes away from Oldenburg Central Station and the ZOB.

Visitors are therefore encouraged to consider travelling by public transport, especially on the busiest days when parking around the festival can become difficult.
